A small Boulder, CO startup is making an effort to help change people's lives for the better with a self-help content delivery app called Gloo. The app combines content from multiple health counseling providers and allows users to find ways to enrich their lives in ways that they would normally not seek out on their own. My effort included redesigning a CMS, iPhone and iPad app.
CBS Interactive holds the IP for over 100 university athletics mobile apps. I helped design and implement these apps on iPhone, Android and Blackberry phones. Each university has between 10 and 30 sports, effectively making this project deliver thousands of individual apps. While all the apps shared a design template, the unique needs of each university made for an interesting project.
Rally Software is the leading authority on big room planning agile at scale. This web application is the result of years of mutliple frameworks most of which were out-of-the-box UI solutions. Know the difficulty of trying to bend such a UI to a custom piece of software, I started build a unique system of UI as a component library. This allowed developers to use modern frameworks while using my HTML/CSS as a guide to build any number of custom agile solutions.
Capsule is the brainchild of the lovely people at Crowd Favorite. It uses WordPress to create a developers notepad. All of the entires are taggable and can be searched via names, code types and date. It's a great tool to use if you want to keep some code handy to use later. I had the pleasure to design some look and feel components of this project.
Appirio is a Salesforce focused consulting company. The majority of the work they consult on is on manipulating CMS tools for technology, HR and client service companies. I designed an in-house mobile web site pulling in Salesforce's API as an agile tool. The site allows users to read and write new stories, epics and tasks on the go.
REDIPlus is a global multi-asset trading tool created by Goldman Sachs. It's a desktop app that makes over one million trades a day. The design of the REDI was in desparate need of a user considered redesign, which is a unique experience considering most traders use 3-6 monitors. The project included 2 years of design revisions and user workflows.
Raycom Media group is the owner of some 30 or more local news stations throughout America. I helped these stations with the design and workflow for these mobile applications across iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry devices. The apps delivered local news, weather and sports in addition to unique data streams based on cultural interests. So yes, you can find the price of cattle somewhere on a local news app.
The Wall St. Journal with Dow Jones' data wanted a way to take advantage of all the finacial charting capabilities available to them. I helped them with the design of a financial research platform that lets researchers put together their own charts to resell to prospective brokers. The project included manipulated charts in every way possible using multiple APIs.
Betfair is the world's largest betting exchange. With millions of transactions everyday, they are sitting on one of the largest repositories of data ever assembled. They are constantly adding new tools and visualizations to explore that data. I did some design exploration around how to manipulate their API's to show data in some new and meaningful ways. While none of it is public, the work was a good exercise in large data sets.
GE is one of the biggest companies in the world. The GE Capital branch of the company, among other things, deals with commerical finance. Most of this work was still done by fax machine as nobody knew how to verify things legally via the internet. The design work here was to create a new system for users to report spending of their commerical loans, replacing a lot of the old ways of doing business.
Tirae is a small Denver startup who works with technology in the service industry. I helped Tirae with the design and strategy of a replacement of paper menus with iPads. The idea here was not only to be a menu, but also to include on the spot upgrades to food, say adding cheese to a hamburger. CMS components to this project included an iPhone companion app and API integrations into existing industry interfaces.
Diageo is the world's largest producer of spirits and a major producer of beer and wine. They use Salesforce as a CMS and they were exploring how far the stock UI can be pushed from a design perspective. The need for a beautiful interface is was required to match the day to day branding of all their inventory. Conceptual mock ups were made to be fleshed out via a custom Salesforce skin.
Kapitall is a next generation investing platform where modern investors can learn about the market, research stocks and funds, share investing ideas, and build virtual and real brokerage portfolios. I worked with Kapitall to redesign the entire platform and reduce the giant footprint of design artifacts. The interface is a web application with a very drag and drop feel.
